What I love about Newcastle

I've been lucky enough to form groups of friends both on my course and in my flat who I would not have met if I hadn’t come to uni. 

I enjoy the social side of university and would say recently I'm enjoying more relaxed and sober social elements rather than always clubbing. I like going to Jesmond Dene or Tynemouth for days out and walks, visiting coffee shops, shopping in general and pub evenings with friends. I definitely prefer socialising when the weather is warm! 

I was surprised by the overall University experience and that it isn’t difficult to get in touch with and receive advice and help from lecturers and in fact they want to be able to help. It’s something I, along with many, went into uni thinking I would have to fend for myself regarding things like working on essays and readings but that’s not the case at all. 

Societies and social activities

I'm in angels cheer society in the jazz team, which I've really enjoyed competing across the country and doing well! I also take part in Newcastle dance society’s classes and especially enjoy contemporary. I'm a very active person and love that there are so many opportunities. 

How Newcastle has helped me realise my future

It’s taught me to put myself out there and in order to get jobs in this industry with all the competition you need to be a versatile and confident person who is committed to getting involved. I hope the course continues to push me in that way. Although I don’t have a specific job in mind, I've always wanted my future career to allow me to travel and explore the world in a way which is enjoyable to me. I would also love to work behind a camera filming and capturing the world. My dream would be to work with national geographic or David Attenborough at some point in my career.
