Meet Charlotte

Fine Art BA

Why did you choose Newcastle University?

I wanted to be at a university close to home, and the Fine Art course was rated as one of the best in the country.

I really liked the fact it was a 4-year course. It allowed an extra year for development and meant I wasn't having to write my dissertation and prepare for my degree show at the same time.

What surprised you about Newcastle?

I was surprised by the level of mental health support available through the university. There are a lot of avenues for help when I needed it.

The support network is amazing.

Have you joined a society or club?

I joined the Socksoc Society during my 2nd year which allowed me to make friends with people outside of the art department. I later went on to be part of the committee during my 4th year.

I've been a part of the Art Society throughout my time at university, even becoming president in my 4th year.

What stands out for you about your degree at Newcastle?

I really liked the fact it was a 4-year course. It allowed an extra year for development and meant I wasn't having to write my dissertation and prepare for my degree show at the same time.

Why should a student pick this degree?

There is a lovely sense of community within the art department. The studio environment is lovely and the technicians and tutors are all incredibly knowledgeable and helpful.
