Meet Zhuofan

Digital Marketing MSc

About Zhuofan

Hi, I’m Zhoufan. I chose to study Digital Marketing at Newcastle as it’s a field I’m very interested in at an accredited institution with very high teaching quality. I was also awarded a Vice Chancellor Future Leaders scholarship of 25% off my tuition fees. This has really helped my finances and means I now have money to decorate my room, enjoy delicious food, and travel with my friends.

I studied Network New Media as an undergraduate. However, after four years of study, I still felt confused about my career plan and failed to find my passion. I decided to come to a new country and study a new field to expand my abilities. The change gave me the energy to discover what I’m interested in.

I now want to stay and work in the UK after graduation, so I will seize every opportunity to enhance my abilities and work towards my career.

I’ve come across many Newcastle alumni online, and they all found good jobs after graduation. I was confident the university would improve my job prospects and offer support to help me in my search.

Support with CVs, visas and more

The CV appointment I attended from the Careers Team helped me see areas where I can improve and pointed me towards other opportunities that would add to my experience. I also met a visa advisor who checked the information I filled out for my study visa application and explained everything I needed to know. These services were very reassuring.

The consultation and guidance activities organised by Newcastle University Business School are such a useful way to discover career opportunities and advance your prospects.

I also reached out to the universitys tutors when I was applying. I wanted to be sure that the subject was something I loved and felt really motivated to study.

The application process itself was very straightforward. Because I worked with an agency, I was mostly responsible for preparing the necessary documents such as my transcripts and recommendation letter.

Kind people with a passion for football

I was shocked by the football spirit of Newcastle! I can hear the stadium from my room on match days. Although I don't watch football, I’m deeply moved by their enthusiasm. I’ve never seen anything like the crowds gathering at the Monument during the Europa League. It was truly astonishing.

The atmosphere in Newcastle is very harmonious. I like living in a place full of human warmth.

Preparation for a career in digital marketing

I really appreciate the combination of classroom and after-class study. Since this is my first time in the UK, the unfamiliar language was difficult at first. By watching the class recaps, I was able to understand the content. Keeping up with the teacher's pace became easier and I’m proud of how far I’ve come.

I hope that, within the next ten years, I can become a strong player in digital marketing and social media. But I also want friends around me and a work/life balance that allows me to spend time doing things I enjoy.

I believe Newcastle has helped me develop the skills to achieve my ambitions. I’ve made friends who share common goals and I’ve taken a step up in my academic abilities, gaining a deeper understanding of a field I’m very interested in.
