Sarah Urquhart
Research Funding Development Manager
Sarah works across all three faculties, supporting academics in securing funding for their research from European and international sources, including Horizon Europe.
Our Research Funding Development Team provides:
- Advice on funder strategy
- Information on funders’ forthcoming plans and opportunities
- Support for large and complex funding applications
- Visits and information sessions from funders
- In‑house funding information sessions
- Guidance on finding funding
- Support with preparing funding applications
- Lay review of funding applications
- Grant training

Background
Sarah holds a Master’s degree in Town Planning and Environmental Management from the University of Manchester. Before joining the University, she worked on projects funded by the European Regional Development Fund. She also supported work linked to the European Landscape Convention.
Since joining the University, Sarah has worked as a Research Project Coordinator on a range of projects. She first supported the VISION‑DMD clinical trial, which was part‑funded by Horizon 2020, at the John Walton Centre for Muscular Dystrophy. She later worked on several projects with the Electrical Power Research Group in the School of Engineering.
