Newcastle University established an international branch campus in Johor, Malaysia, in 2011. Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia (NUMed) offers undergraduate degrees in medicine, biosciences, data science and sport. During your degree, you'll have opportunities to explore postgraduate-level study and develop your academic interests further.
The study courses are identical to those provided in the UK and lead to the same degrees. By studying at NUMed, you can gain a UK qualification while benefiting from lower tuition fees and living costs than studying in the UK.
Since opening in 2009, NUMed has continued to expand its portfolio of programmes. Our Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree welcomed its first students in 2009, followed by BSc (Honours) Biomedical Sciences in 2013 and the Foundation in Science in 2016. We will continue to grow our academic offering with the introduction of Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Data Science and BSc Honours Sport and Exercise Science in 2027.

NUMed Malaysia Sdn Bhd is the Johor campus operator. Registered in Malaysia under Company No 792091-W, it is owned by Newcastle University.
