Returning students: what's new for 2025
3 September 2025
The University Library is ready to welcome you back! Read on to discover what’s changed over the summer and what you need to know to get ahead this new academic year.
What’s new at the Philip Robinson Library?
At the Philip Robinson Library, we’ve been busy over the break making improvements based on your feedback. We invite you to come and explore our newly refurbished social learning space on Level 2. Our new furniture installation provides a vibrant and eye-catching design with contemporary furniture and a layout that supports your study needs. We’ve used your feedback alongside our UX (User Experience) studies to deliver more of what you like – tables with power and charging ports, warm and natural colours, comfortable seating and modern design. The space on Level 2 has been transformed with a mix of built-in group desks with low seating and task lighting and individual high stools with a counter style worktop suitable for laptop usage.
Changes to the location of law resources
Additionally, as part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing Library services and supporting the evolving study needs and preferences of our students, we are moving to a new approach for law resources and services in 2025/2026.
You can now find key print law materials in the Philip Robinson Library, including the print books you need for your studies, and some selected reports, reference materials and journals. This move will give you 24/7 term-time access to essential print Law resources for the first time. We will also continue to invest in online law materials, including e-textbooks, which can be access anytime, anywhere.
As a result, you may now find print books, reports and journals in more than one location across the library buildings, however it is important to note that the essential print materials for your studies will likely be held in the Philip Robinson Library. Please check the location of materials on Library Search. Library staff will be happy to assist if you need any help locating print resources.
