What is ResLife? 

If you’re not sure how to get ready to join Newcastle University, ResLife is here to put your mind at ease. Checkout our pre-arrival guide to discover what your accommodation has in store for you. ResLife is an Accommodation team who ensure students experience university life to the full and make the most of their time living with us in our Purpose-Built Student Accommodations (PBSAs). Though students are encouraged to make their rooms feel like their own, we encourage you to branch out of your comfort zone and try what Newcastle has to offer. We aim to bridge the gap between home life and independent living by connecting students through free events, wellbeing support, or simply providing communal areas for you to explore, meet up and chill out. 

Events

Every week during term time, ResLife host free events that all students living in our PBSAs can attend, ranging from gaming tournaments and movie nights to craft sessions and skincare giveaways. In your first weeks, expect exciting welcome events such as Geordie Lingo Bingo, pizza nights, trips to Tynemouth beach and more! Our events are run by students for students, so you always have access to an informal and relaxing atmosphere. We also routinely offer big prizes for our competitions, too, so make sure to check them out when you join!

Support

ResLife are also here to support your wellbeing by prioritising safety, comfort, and accessibility within our PBSAs. If something is troubling you – maybe you aren’t sure how to ask your flatmates to contribute to a bin rota – or you’re after some general accommodation advice, our team is always here to help. Pop by one of our social spaces or email us at reslife@newcastle.ac.uk to speak to one of our Residences Life Co-ordinators (RLCs) about any flat concerns.

Build community through us

At the end of the day, your accommodation is not just a place to sleep or cook food, it’s your home during your first year at Newcastle and ResLife are here to make it as worry-free as possible. Our student workers (RSAs) can be found in the social spaces for informal chats or will answer Instagram DMs at @reslife_ncl. As a team, we’re dedicated to enriching your first-year university experience. Community building is at the heart of all operations at ResLife, and we hope that through attending our events, speaking with our RSAs, and accessing our support services that you won’t only settle into Newcastle, but thrive here.
