Background
I lead on the Net-Zero related aspects of operational sustainability - supporting the delivery of the University's Net Zero target, this includes:
- Net Zero Strategy development, including co-development with internal and external stakeholders.
- Delivery of the University's Climate Action plan (CAP).
- Development of internal business cases and external funding bids to support delivery of the programme.
- Planning and leading delivery of on-site and off-site renewable energy projects, including negotiation of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
- Working with E&F colleagues and external consultants in project teams to lead delivery of complex energy/carbon projects up to and beyond £5m value.
- Working with colleagues across the university to provide advice and expertise to support delivery of Net Zero within unit-level strategies and plans.
- Being accountable for statutory compliance with relevant legislation including (not limited to): Heat Networks (Market Framework) Regulations 2025, including leading on the introduction of the Heat Network Technical Assurance Scheme (HNTAS), the Medium Combustion Plant Directive, and the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS).
- Supporting continual improvement in environmental performance via input into the University's ISO14001 and ISO50001 environmental / energy management systems.
- Developing and maintaining appropriate data collection and reporting processes, taking responsibility for University carbon accounting and internal and external reporting.
