Blue Futures: Inspiring the Next Generation of Marine Scientists
Join one of our exciting marine science events for Years 9 to 11, taking place at Newcastle University’s very own marine laboratory based in Cullercoats!
Come and spend the day at our specialist beach-side laboratory for a day of interactive activities, led by university staff.

What can you get involved in?
We are excited to be partnering up with some lovely external organisations, all based in the North-East! Examples of previous organisations include Wild Oyster Project, Durham Wildlife Trust, and Northumberland Wildlife Trust. All have hosted engaging and interactive events where students get a taste of life as a Marine Scientist and why they are important!
Students will take part in a rocky shore fieldwork session, design a new algae project, gain an idea of the weird and wonderful things below, and engage in a workshop from experts in the conservation field about how to protect our planet, offering a great insight into the marine sectors found locally who do tremendous work for our environment!

- 11:00 - 12:15 External Workshop (eg. Wild Oysters Project/Durham Wildlife Trust)

- 14:15 - 14:30 Evaluation and Wrap-Up
