Blue Futures: Inspiring the Next Generation of Marine Scientists

Join one of our exciting marine science events for year 9, taking place at the Dove Marine Lab.

Come and spend the day at our specialist beach-side laboratory in Cullercoats for a day of interactive activities for Years 9 & 10 pupils, led by university staff.

What can you get involved in?

We are excited to be partnering up with external organisations, including the Wild Oysters Project, Durham Wildlife Trust, and Northumberland Wildlife Trust, to host an interactive event where students get a taste for life as a Marine Scientist!

Students will take part in a rocky shore fieldwork session, design a new algae project, and engage in a workshop from experts in the conservation field about how to protect our planet.

  • 10:00 - 11:00 Rocky Shore Fieldwork Session
  • 11:00 - 12:15 External Workshop (eg. Wild Oysters Project/Durham Wildlife Trust)

  • 12:45 - 14:15 Planet Algae Workshop 
  • 14:15 - 14:30 Evaluation and Wrap-Up

Who Should Attend?

The event is available for school group bookings, with a maximum of 20 spaces per school.
