Great opportunities
To take part in one of our study abroad programmes for international students, you need to have completed at least one year of study at your home institution. You can earn credits to transfer to your home institution.
Join us for a whole academic year or for one semester. You'll enjoy integrating with our students, both in the School, the wider Faculty and across University.
There are great opportunities to experience first-class research-informed teaching, and if taking the Pre-Health II option you will learn about the British healthcare system through meeting and problem solving with medical and allied health students.

Pre-health programme
This programme provides the opportunity for students to study for a semester (Spring) which includes the bespoke Pre-health II module integrating Clinical Skills, Interprofessional Education and progressive anatomical studies.
You can choose any of the biomedical modules that we offer to our undergraduate students (depending on timetabling). You can also choose modules from one of the other faculties (depending on timetabling constraints). This is at the discretion of the School hosting the module.
During pre-health study abroad, you would be based and taught within the Newcastle Faculty of Medical Sciences connected to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) NHS hospital. In the Faculty you are surrounded by allied health professional students often taught by clinical colleagues. You would have the opportunity to learn alongside medical and allied health students with opportunities to learn how healthcare teams work.
The specially designed Pre-health II option provides professional practical clinical scenario activities alongside current medical students, multidisciplinary interprofessional team activities involving diagnosis and problem solving, as well as in depth gross and system-level anatomy including cadaveric lab activities. You would be assessed by and generating a reflective portfolio of experience. These will further enhance your medical school or health-related programme applications.

Biomedical Sciences programme
This programme is for international students who want to study Biomedical and Biomolecular science subjects. It exposes you to high profile research-informed teaching and research.
You'll be able to study most of the modules offered by the School of Biomedical, Nutritional and Sport Sciences. If you're taking Liberal Arts programmes at your home university, you can also choose modules from one of the other Faculties. This will depend on timetable constraints). You can study for a semester of a full year.
