3DReid Student Prize

Congratulations to Nikki Mrkic-Smith who is one of five UK students to be shortlisted for the 3DReid Student Prize 2026. 3DReid received 22 submissions from Schools of Architecture from across the UK and have shortlisted five projects. 

These five students, including Nikki, will present their projects to the judging panel at the 3DReid Studios in London on 24 July. 

Nikki Mrkic-Smith worked in Professor Adam Sharr's Climate Infrastructures studio which asked what infrastructure we should build now to protect cities and existing infrastructures, or alternatively whether we should avoid expending carbon on concrete and steel now and instead anticipate how to live with climate changed landscapes. This project was created in response to the studio brief. 

The Glass is Half Full

The Glass Is Half Full explores how climate change might create new atmospheric and agricultural possibilities within the Scottish landscape. Using wine as a climate-sensitive programme, the project proposes a future winery near Edinburgh that rethinks the relationship between production, landscape and public experience. Rather than hiding the working process, the proposal develops a new community-based work typology, where seasonal workers and production become part of a shared landscape.
