Welcome Events

Come and join one of the many events during your first few weeks. They will help you get familiar with the university and enable you to meet new people.

Student Welcome events schedule

Starting university is an exciting time, and there are lots of events and activities designed to help you settle in.

Our Student Welcome events take place during your first few weeks and are a great way to explore campus, get involved, and meet other students.

We also run International Welcome events to support students arriving from overseas.

These sessions are a chance to learn more about life in Newcastle, get practical advice, and make new friends from around the world.

International Welcome Information Fair

The information fair will be:

  • on 23 January 2026 between 10:00 and 14:00
  • in the King's Gate building on the ground floor

Chat with representatives from services across the university and city. Find out more information about:

Refreshments will be provided. You'll be able to chat with other new students over a tea or coffee.

Clubs, Societies and Volunteering Fair

26 January 2026 from 10:00 to 15:30 in the Lindisfarne Room (10:00-11:00 is a quiet hour)

Looking to meet new people and get more involved at your Students’ Union?
The Clubs, Societies & Volunteering Fair is the best place to start.

With 65 clubs, 200 societies, and loads of volunteering projects on offer, this is your chance to explore everything from Basketball to Basket-weaving — all led by students, for students. Chat to current members, ask about joining, costs, training and socials, and see what being part of a group is really like. 

Campus and City Tours

Our Students' Union will be offering several FREE tours of the city and campus. These will run throughout International Welcome and the first week of term. Why not join one and explore what the university and city have to offer? You can book on to these tours via the NUSU website.

Events and Activities

The Give it a Go programme at the Students' Union is a great way to join activities and meet other students. From lunchtime crafting sessions to day trips outside of Newcastle, there are many activities to choose from!
