Living through ongoing volatility, uncertainty and pressure, how can leaders practice in ways that maintain their own health and support the well-being of the people they work alongside?
Join our 2-part online CPD course designed to offer fresh thinking and practical tools which will challenge your assumptions about leadership. It aims to develop and improve healthier everyday practices to support your own well-being and the well-being of your colleagues.
Grounded in Newcastle University’s executive education research, these sessions will help you to refresh your own leadership mindset, develop new insights and ways of practising. Whether you’re managing transitions, exploring new directions, or simply wanting to future-proof your professional identity, this series will support you to think differently and flourish in the future.
It provides a natural stepping stone toward the Postgraduate Certificate in Strategic Leadership, offering participants a chance to explore their leadership mindset and practice foundational to support those already in senior positions and those aspiring to leadership roles.
These sessions will take place in spring 2027.

Dr Nicola Patterson
Nicola is a Senior Lecturer in Executive Education at Newcastle University Business School, Programme Director for the MSc Strategic Leadership and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her research interests focus are leadership, entrepreneurship, small business, diversity and inclusion with specific focus on gender.
Nicola has published research in the International Small Business Journal, International Journal for Entrepreneurial Behavior and Research, International Journal of Gender and Entrepreneurship, Gender in Management: An International Journal, European Journal of Training and Development and Management Learning.
Dr Amy Stabler
Amy is a Senior Lecturer in Executive Education at Newcastle University Business School. Amy started her career as a civil servant in central government, and has thirty years’ experience providing leadership development consultancy, facilitation and executive coaching to a range of national and international public, private and voluntary sector organisations.
She holds a Doctorate in Professional Studies, an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy and is an Executive Coach. She currently co-leads Reimagining Leadership, a Wellcome Trust Funded Project to improve research culture at Newcastle University.
Professor Sharon Mavin
Sharon is Professor of Leadership and Organisation Studies and was Director of Newcastle University Business School 2017-2020. Sharon was previously Director of Roehampton Business School, London and Dean and Associate Dean of Research at Newcastle Business School, Northumbria University. Sharon was awarded the British Academy of Management Medal for Leadership in 2021 and is a Fellow of the Institute of Professional Development, Academy of Social Sciences, the Royal Society of Arts, the British Academy of Management, CIPD and HEA.
Sharon is a leading international scholar on gender in leadership and organisations, and management and leadership learning. She has continued to be passionate about and engage in practice, organisational innovation and impact through leadership research, engagement and consultancy and is an Executive Coach.
