I am currently working as a Research Project Manager for the EJS ACT-PD Digital Measures Sub Study.
The Edmond J Safra, Accelerating Clinical Trials in Parkinson’s Disease (EJS ACT-PD) is a clinical research study led by University College London (UCL). This is a multi-arm multi-stage study which aims to find a treatment for PD which can slow down or stop symptoms from getting worse. The study will recruit up to 1,600 participants from 45 NHS sites across the UK.
A Digital Measures Sub-Study (DMSS) is being led by Newcastle University (NU). This study uses wearable digital technology to measure change in mobility in people taking part in the EJS ACT-PD study. The aim of the DMSS within the EJS ACT-PD study is to establish the validity and practical utility of Digital Mobility Outcomes in a clinical trial. The DMSS will determine whether objectively measured DMOs are able to detect or predict PD progression. The validation of digital biomarkers will contribute to the evaluation of people with PD and the development of PD treatments.
This role follows on my previous position as a Research Project Manager for the Mobilise-D consortium. This was a Public-Private Partnership funded by the European Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) 2 Joint Undertaking, which developed and validated an assessment of mobility using digital technology (DMOs). This consortium included 34 international research institutions including universities and leading pharmaceutical and technical companies.
