Previously worked as a Research Technician within Newcastle University on a LifeArc funded project, lead by Dr Giles Holt, working on target enrichment and long read sequencing of the RCA cluster using Oxford Nanopore Technologies. The aim was to develop and optimise a novel diagnostic approach for genetically challenging rare diseases, namely Atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (aHUS).
This project ran alongside working under Joris Veltman within the Male Infertility Genomics Research group at the Institute of Biosciences, using long read whole genome sequencing and other NGS technologies to identify variants of interest.
