Dr Eunice Adwubi

Research Associate

Background

Eunice holds a PhD in Decision Science from the University of Strathclyde (2025), where her doctoral research developed an agent-based model of patients' self-management behaviours and diabetes service delivery in Ghana, working in collaboration with clinicians and health policymakers. She also holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Ghana (2017), where she was awarded both the Professor Isabella Quakyi Prize for Best MPH Female Student and the Ofosu-Amaah Prize for the Best MPH Student, and a BA (Hons) in Sociology and Social Work from the University of Ghana (2014). 

 

Before joining Newcastle, Dr Adwubi was a Research Assistant and Team Lead at the University of Strathclyde (2020–2021), where she led work on COVID-19 vaccine delivery barriers in low- and middle-income countries, and an Assistant Lecturer at Ghana Christian University College (2017–2019). She is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2023) and completed Advance HE External Examiner recognition in June 2026. 


Eunice serves as the Population and Health Sciences Institute Representative on the Faculty of Medical Sciences Research Sub-Committee (2025–2026), is a member of the Operational Research Society's Special Interest Group Committee on Health and Care Systems and is a member of the Springer Nature Trusted Reviewer Committee. 

Research

Eunice's research sits at the intersection of systems thinking, simulation modelling, health technology assessment, and implementation science. She is interested in how people make decisions about their health and healthcare, how healthier behaviours can be encouraged, and how health services are designed, implemented, and evaluated — with a particular focus on how individual behaviours can be incorporated into simulation models and decision analysis, and on reducing inequalities in health outcomes. 


Her current work in the NIHR Behavioural and Social Science Policy Research Unit spans multiple projects, including an investigation of the relationship between local economic performance and local health inequalities across English local authorities, , and the development of a system dynamics model linking economic productivity, health structures, and health inequalities in English local authorities; Optimising Integrated Care Services (OptICS) programme for physical and mental health care, and decision-making and engagement tragetories of UK residents involved in medical tourism. 



Her earlier research addressed COVID-19 vaccine delivery barriers in low- and middle-income countries, and decision-making support for Global Fund Country Coordinating Mechanisms across multiple countries. Methodologically, she applies agent-based modelling, system dynamics, discrete choice experiments, cost-effectiveness analysis, and qualitative and mixed methods to health research.
