About Geena's career
Can you please introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about what you've done since graduating?
I completed an MA in Global History at Freie Universität Berlin/Humboldt Universität zu Berlin in Berlin from 2021-2024. Then from 2024 I started working as a researcher on a project funded by the ERC and hosted by the Freie Universität to do my PhD, which goes until 2028.
I have also published 2 journal articles based on my MA thesis and I received a scholarship from German historical research London to research in the archives there.
I enjoyed the city, and the variation of the classes. There were many good professors there.
Studying at Newcastle
Why did you choose Newcastle University?
I wanted to transfer back to a UK uni (Russell group) from Wellington NZ where I completed my first year, Newcastle was the only uni I applied for that would let me start in second year rather than having to restart.
How do you think your course prepared you for your chosen career?
Considering I have a career in research and academia it has of course been highly useful.
What did you enjoy most about your time at Newcastle University?
I enjoyed the city, and the variation of the classes. There were many good professors there.
Please describe your time at Newcastle University in three words:
