Role in LTDS
One of my main roles is to support some of the internal communications for the Learning and Teaching Development Service. This includes:
- a monthly newsletter
- social media @ncl_LTDS
- Service update reports for Faculty Education Committees
- the LTDS blog
We are always looking to share news relating to learning and teaching across the University so get in touch if you would like to discuss your ideas.
I'm also part of the team that look after the Case Studies Website, a resource that staff can use to share great teaching ideas. If you would like to share a case study of your own teaching let us know and we can put it on the site.
Another aspect of my role involves supporting NUTELA (Newcastle University Technology Enhanced Learning Advocates) This group support good practice using technology in teaching and run regular 3Ps (Pizza, Pop and Practice) events, where staff can get practical experience using different technologies.
Other projects that I support include Open Badges, promoting the British Conference of Undergraduate Research to Newcastle University Students and I am part of the team organising the Learning and Teaching Conference.
Background
I studied Psychology here at Newcastle University, graduating in 2005. After working for an advocacy organisation followed by a policy role in local government, I first started working at the University in 2012.
I've worked in a few different roles in the University including the FMS Graduate School, the Interaction Team and more recently in the Realising Opportunities team, a collaboration of research intensive universities working to promote fair access and social mobility.
