Politics Pedagogy Cluster (PPC)

About

The Politics Pedagogy Cluster (PPC) was formed in Autumn 2025 to establish a permanent home for the unit’s innovative work in teaching and learning across our undergraduate, taught postgraduate and research postgraduate programs.

The PPC’s aim is to establish a collaborative and critically reflective research cluster that advances the pedagogy of Politics, supporting inclusive, innovative and evidence-informed teaching through partnership, professional development, scholarship and research.

Cluster activities

Offering a unique, supportive and regular communal space for discussion about our teaching practices, the PPC meets regularly throughout the teaching year, covering a range of topics pertinent to teaching politics in the contemporary landscape, including:

  • Introducing, refining and expanding our module offerings based on student feedback, and colleague advice and support
  • Reading groups on the latest innovations in the pedagogy of politics and the politics of pedagogy
  • Taking a leading role in the work on decolonising and diversifying the curriculum
  • The role and ethics of AI in the classroom and assessments
  • Guest speakers from across the School, University and wider Politics teaching community in the UK, and
  • Open forums for colleagues to discuss the successes and difficulties of teaching in the current political and higher education environment
