About Sophie

I’m an ESRC funded doctoral researcher in Human Geography. My interests include masculinities, nationalism and nationhood, class and race and ethnicity.

Project description

Amidst ongoing mainstreaming of far-right and reactionary rhetoric, I draw upon biographical methods to examine how masculinities are lived and narrated in the present.

Research interests

Situated in post-industrial Tyneside, my work takes the everyday as a critical site of inquiry. I explore how broader reactionary formations can take hold, gain legitimacy and are negotiated and/or resisted.
