Project description
My project explores the opportunities for youth engagement in climate justice movements in the North East of England. Specifically their engagement with climate justice issues and the challenges faced in advocating for these issues. This is from an intersectional perspective and considering the accessibility of said opportunities.
This research topic offers a synthesis of youth and social geographies in a specific regional context on the topic of climate justice. This is a growing area of research with increasing importance as the effects of climate change intensify.
This research aims to respond to the interconnection of regional and global change, to understand how climate change and climate injustice are being experienced by youth in the Northeast. This is carried out using theories of intersectionality and environmental justice.
