Increase in vacancies for Newcastle University students

We're off to a good start for this academic year with a significant rise in the number of vacancies on our MyCareer portal.

10 November 2025

The Careers Service is pleased to report a significant increase in vacancies being advertised through the MyCareer portal.

This September 2025 there was a 6.5% increase in the number of vacancies compared with September 2024 and in October 2025 this rose to a 30% increase compared with October 2024.

MyCareer hosts a wide range of job vacancies for students and graduates, including part time jobs, internships, placements, graduate jobs and volunteer roles. The Careers Service works directly with national, international and local employers who want to recruit talent from Newcastle University.

Kathryn Pickup, Employer Liaison Adviser at the Careers Service is responsible for managing vacancies on the MyCareer portal and she explained, 'We're delighted to see the increase in vacancies to the site this year, including some from top graduate recruiters we haven't worked with before. What's great about using MyCareer over other jobs boards on the market, is that the recruiters advertising here have specifically chosen to target you as Newcastle University students and graduates, and are eager to receive your applications. If you haven't already done so, why not set up a daily/weekly jobs alert so you don't miss out on your perfect role.'
