Launch of Practera programme
Students worked in cross university teams to deliver a live project for industry partners.
2 March 2026
Horizons is a programme provided by Practera, providing authentic, CV-worthy professional industry experience to students to enhance their skills and employability. The Careers Service was able to provide twelve funded places on the programme starting in January 2026.
The three week work-based learning programme is designed to provide students with valuable professional experience. Participants worked as part of a consulting team to undertake a project for a real start-up, business or charity.
Each team received a project brief and collaborated with their team to understand their industry client’s context and present their findings and recommendations in a professional report.
They were supported throughout with online training and coaching to support them to include the experience on their CV. They were also able to receive a digital certificate to publish on social media.
The feedback and results overall were very positive – some headline results include:
- 78% increase in global professional skills
- 74% increase in social and professional network
- 94% will use the experience as evidence of skills in future applications
We're pleased to be offering further opportunities through Practera coming soon. More details will be made available on the Careers Service website.
